Extended Clinical Practice – Professional Program

Duration: 152 academic hours

Format: 38 sessions of three clock hours each- weekly or twice a week over 19 weeks.

This is the Center's most comprehensive practical training program, designed for participants who wish to develop clinical confidence, professional autonomy, and advanced clinical reasoning through long-term immersion in a real hospital setting. The extended duration enables participants not only to observe individual consultations, but also to follow patients' progress and clinical processes over time—an invaluable learning experience that cannot be achieved through short-term training alone.

The program provides participants the opportunity to become actively involved in the daily work of the Center for Psychological Support at Lozenets University Hospital, combining theoretical instruction, hands-on clinical experience, structured observation, and ongoing supervision.

The program includes:

  • Structured clinical observation across different hospital departments;
  • Participation in psychological consultations and clinical case discussions;
  • Observation of patients with acute, chronic, psychosomatic, and oncological conditions;
  • Psychological support before and after surgical procedures and medical interventions;
  • Observation of consultations with bedridden patients and patients in intensive care units;
  • Participation in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical discussions;
  • Presentation and analysis of clinical material;
  • Training in clinical interviewing, psychological assessment, case formulation, and intervention planning;
  • Regular supervision and individualized feedback provided by the Center's clinical psychologists.

The program is intended for students enrolled in Master's programs in Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Clinical Social Work, and related mental health disciplines, as well as practicing psychologists, psychotherapists, physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals seeking to deepen their clinical expertise.

Training is conducted in small groups, ensuring active participation, individualized attention, and in-depth discussion of clinical practice.

Participants who successfully complete the program and maintain a minimum of 80% attendance will receive an official Certificate of Completion issued by the Educational Department of Lozenetz University Hospital.
